What I wanna know is, your Gparents probably got married in the 40's or 50's. Where and how did a Korean man meet and marry a black woman? Seriously a unique situation. |

Jeez. Seriously KA's don't know their Asian American history.
WHen Chinese, Koreans, Asians came to the US in the early 20th century, they had laws forbidding Asian men to marry white women. There was also segregation that forced Asian communities to live in undesireable and difficult places. However, Asian men were taken in by the Black communities... as is evidenced by numerous Marriages between Asian men and Black women in the south during the first half of the 20th century.
Laws restrictin Asian men from marrying white women weren't lifted until the 60's and some into the 70's because of the Civil Rights movement.

BTW, KMCLover, welcome to the forums...
ur history is pretty interesting. I hope u keep in contact with ur grandfather's sisters and brother's grandchildren. They are still considered to be family in Korea because it is within 8 degrees of family.
