Los Angeles police are planning a "task force" sweep of K-town Friday, March 19, through 4 a.m. Sat.
Although it's not a DUI-related sweep (see below), there will be tons of cops on the streets (usually more than 100 officers are assigned to such sweeps), so my suggestion is to keep your head up.
The LAPD started these neighborhood sweeps in the valley around the time of the proposed valley succession. In my view it was the department's way of hushing pro-succession critics who said the valley wasn't getting its fair share of city services. When the new chief (Bill Bratton) came in, he liked the sweeps and has begun doing them citywide (I think this is the first one outside the valley).

Everything. "Quality of life crimes" or something like that. Seems like in the past they got mostly traffic violators, parolees and gangstas. Click the link, above, for more.

oh sh*t. if anyone needs a designated driver, holla. I'm not allowed to have any alcohol in my bloodstream while operating a vehicle.. so I'll just go smoke cigs and chill.

Or you can call 1-888-311-7223 and they'll come pick you up, drive your car home as well as give you a ride... all for FREE!!! they would like you to donate a few bucks for gas if you live further than 10 miles from the place of pickup but otherwise it's a great program for So. Cali. where a lot of people are afraid of leaving their car somewhere away from their place overnite. I've called them before (even though it was awhile ago) and they are totally cool. Of course Friday and Saturday nites around 2 am they are a little busy but waiting a few minutes can save you from an arrest, accident or worse.
