Spundae at Circus started in 2002. Giant kicked off their Saturday nights there in January, 2000.
It's got a decent EAW Avalon Series sound system, designed by one of the owners of the competing Avalon superclub chain, but I would say far from Top 5. Avalon Hollywood's EAW Avalon Series gear is a $1 million set-up with separate systems for live and dance and a $100,000 P.A. mixer -- and with much better accoustics. The biggest problem at Circus is the accoustics. It sounds like a warehouse in there, and the lows rattle the structure, echo and bounce around the room.
That said, Morillo is dope. "Shiny Disco Balls" was released on his Subliminal label in 2002. Check out the Subliminal Sessons mix-CDs for his sound.
