who's the promoter of the vElvet rooom and the cover charge? Guestlist price?
JubersMon Dec 29, 2003 9:50 pm
Korean clubs don't have promoters. No cover charge. No guestlist.
You call a waiter. You reserve a table with him. A table will cost your $200... and don't be skimpy on the tip. $40 is standard for starving students... more you give, the merrier your waiter will be. The merrier your waiter, the better service he gives you. Better service = prettier girls they bring you via 'booking' and occasional freebies like a bottle of crown or couple beers.

That sounds just like Le PRIVE. Am i correct? Basically the velvet room is not really a club like century, highland, or garden of eden. At these places, you dont really need to buy a table. Instead you pay the cover charge and then they let you in. So in order to get into this VELVET room, you have to ORDER A TABLE for $200? That means any of those people who wanted to go independently to spend time alone and chill don't really have much of a chance to get in right?
JubersTue Dec 30, 2003 12:45 am
Unless you know people... like Raymond or Mike (twin door managers) or Alex (owner), you don't get in unless you get a table.
If you do know them, they let you in whenever... like if you were to chill at some other bar... got bored, and decided to come to Velvet just to dance and hit up some girls, you gotta know someone.
Oh, and ALL Korean clubs are like this. Prive, Velvet, Karnak, what used to be Velfare, etc.

So how do you get to know them if you're a newbie like me?
RVDTue Dec 30, 2003 9:58 am
if you speak korean (works if you just speak english but works better if you speak korean), you can just call them and say that you haven't been there in a few years and so your waiter is probably gone. if they ask who your waiter was, just tell him 007, HOT, or some other common korean club waiter name. the guy on the phone will usually assign you a new waiter or will call up one of his waiter friends and have that guy call you.
each table has a minimum. it's around $200 ($140 for a bottle of crown + $40 for the fruit plate). you can get more expensive bottles if you want to.
it's not like century club, white lotus, etc...b/c you have to get a table.
of course like everyone said, there are exceptions to the rules if you know someone pretty well, if you're a hot group of girls, etc.
RVD.

damn that's high rollin... i cringe at even paying $20 cover charges but i'd rather just go to a normal club and use what little social skills God has given me in tricking some girl to give me her cell phone number.

if you're a newbie you start out like this:
1. gather your friends and get a table. leave a VERY LARGE TIP at the end of the night.
2. gather your friends and get another table. see #1.
3. rinse, repeat.
4. after you go there enough and they realize you are a high roller, they may remember you.
OR...
1. be a girl.
2. show some skin.
or do what i did and be cute and dance well.
HA. i am so kidding!!
JubersWed Dec 31, 2003 9:41 am
Be like Rara and get up on the speaker... but be able to dance better than the gogo dancers. Then they'll remember u!

What kind of music do they play there? HIP hop, trance? What days do they play hip hop?
jO3Wed Dec 31, 2003 6:54 pm
They play everything, INCLUDING some RnB. They even play songs like Diddy and Vanilla Ice.

Which is better? Velvet or LE PRIVE? I was at le prive last night for the spring break party and isee so many KOREANS. Hmm.. Le prive is very huge and it has nice GReen laser light show with tables and seats in front of the dance floor.

which has better music? sorry im a rookie when it comes to korean clubs. BOO !! *Sigh:( I've just view some multimedia footage clips of the velvet room at
http://www.velvet-room.com/. The music looks very good.
So all korean clubs require you to BUY A TABLE TO GET IN? What happens if you just want to go their individually and just want to chill alone????????????????????????????I realize that you have to know the waiter to get in but i dont. I don't know much about korean clubs. Bad for me.. BOOOOOO!

jO3Fri Apr 02, 2004 12:53 pm
Why don't you just go to both and find out which one you like better?

i like to check out the velvet room to see but i don't want to spend 200 - 500 for a table to get in. I want to check it out individually myself before i can ask my friends to come. But the thing is i dont have a waiter or know anyone that will allow me to get in. Maybe they let me in but i'll go try.
