The K-Town Species by KtownMan

KtownMan's Site Critique by KtownMan

Again, thanks for all the hate emails you're sending me, it really gets me going in the morning.  I suppose I can individually humiliate you on Ktown213, but I won't do that since it won't be fair.  It would be like you and I competing in a joust tournament, where I'm fully equipped in my nice shiny armor riding on a magnificent stallion, while you're butt-naked on a donkey.  It just wouldn't be right.

Today the Ktownman will give you an unbiased critique of a few sites out there relating to Korean-Americans & their lifestyles in Southern California.

1.  Ktown213.com - It's kind of surprising that it took this long for a website like this to come along, to represent Koreatown.  I mean, where was this site during the Juliana and Luxy days?  Weekly photos drew my attention immediately, as I looked for all the Ktown honeys I might've boned in my Ktown career.  The site layout kind of gives off a "bubbly" feel, but I guess that's alright since it goes hand-in-hand with the whole Smile, You're on Ktown213 theme.  There's quite a lot to do on the site besides just browsing through the photos.  I can waste my work hours playing games, browsing through forum discussions, viewing spotlights and in-depth interviews, and etc.  Ktown213.com does lack in the articles department, but that's why I'm here, to lend a helping hand.

Overall Grade:  A-

2.  Kx-Gen.com - Ah yes, food for my brain.  Although not updated often, KxGen does things right.  I thoroughly enjoy their KX-Files, articles contributed by random viewers of the site.  From trends & lifestyles to flick of the week, they have it all.  I guess this site is more food for thought than anything, a true web magazine with articles worth reading.  Also, I just love how they categorized the Ktown directory, by Cafe, Club, Anju & Beer, BBQ, and Cheap Date.   Ha ha, they're so nice, always on the look out for a broke ass foo like me.  But I guess if there's one thing they lack, it's visual stimulation, because there's really not much to see.

Overall Grade:  B+

3.  Soompi.com - Now here's a great site for all you teeny boppers out there.  A website totally committed to K-pop music, with a huge member-base.  The site layout is clean, and there's really nothing bad to say about them.  Looking for the title of a song you're dying to sing at a norebang?  This is the site for you.  Honestly, I don't go to the site much, only because I'm too old to be screaming Oppa~!, but hey, whatever floats your boat.

Overall Grade:  B

4.  SoKorean.com - OK, now what the fu*k was the owner thinking when he came up with this domain name?  Like, I'm sooOoOO Korean, hence the domain name sokorean.com?  I'm sorry but I think that's just gay.  This is another teeny bopper web site, more accurately, a soompi-wannabe.  It looks like the owner incorporated a second website to it, sodrama.com selling copies of VCD's he created on his home computer.  This site gets a sostupid.com C at best.

Overall Grade:  C

5.  Asianblock.com -  OK, here's a site that absolutely does nothing for me.  There's nothing for me to do there on the site!  You go to the site and you get hit with nothing but marketing propaganda, Advertise with us because we're Asianblock.  WTF?  The site has no substance, no articles, no pictures, no updates, no nothing.   Half the links don't work, and they just suck donkey's ass.

Overall Grade:  F
