Korean Pride

I was shocked that a white person wrote this article (click here). It's about K-town of all things. I know most readers from Koreatown will recognize all the places he mentions because I did.

The author of the article actually has some 'Korean pride,' as he grew up in K-Town in the old days before it was called K-Town.

After reading his article, I realized things like this make me wonder why Koreans don't have as much Korean Pride.  I think it's the lack of support.  By this I mean, from up to down.  Let me explain.  People and corporations that have the power and means to support fellow Koreans don't do anything to support their own.  Let me give you an example.

When DaeWoo went bankrupt they were seeking representation in LA. but did they want a Korean American to represent them?  No, they wanted a white man because they believed Korean Americans are out for themselves (money, greed) and have no pride nor love for the Mother Land.

Here's a food for thought.  When Los Angeles broke out on that nasty riot in April of 1992, did Korean American's get any support from the Mother Land?  I don't think so. Not a single thing from the government nor the people nor the corporations that could of done something to speed up the process to get Koreans back on their feet. When Korea went through that IMF crisis years back Korean Americans sent a loads of money to help out our fellow Koreans back home.

It's bothersome that Koreans from the Mother Land view us as non-Koreans and Korean Americans view Koreans from the Mother Land as "TOO KOREAN" that we can't trust each other.  The bottom line folks?  We are all Korean.

There has to be some sort of support system to back fellow Koreans.  If the people and corporations in power do not support the little people, all Koreans will suffer.  I've heard and felt the glass ceiling at a 'white' corporation but for Korean Americans to go to a Korean company and to feel the same thing is ridiculous, and vice-versa of course.
