Q&A:
Ursula Mayes
Part I: The Interview
Ktown213:
Hi Ursula, give Ktown213 a brief history about yourself!
Ursula Mayes: I went to
school at Applied Kinesthetic Studies, which is the study of alternative
to medicine. There I learned the importance of how to live a life of
peace in mind, body, and soul. Im big on charity and helping other
people. I believe the more you give, the more you get back. Karma. For
example, in my hometown of Washington, D.C., I work an event every year
called Fight Night. It helps to raise money for various childrens
charities (i.e. Make A Wish Foundation, Childrens Hospital, etc) and
this past year Fight Night grossed 2.2 million, the highest ever! In my
spare time I also volunteer at group homes for troubled teens and kids
in need.
Kt213: Tell us about your
hobbies.
UM: My hobbies include
photography, makeup artistry (Im a makeup artist also), fashion,
reading, writing (Ive had 2 poems published), painting, drawing,
interior design, cooking, working out, live music, tattoos, piercings,
and my pets. Im a passionate artist at heart, so anything within the
arts or creativity stimulates me. I love doing things outdoors, spending
time with my family, traveling, and meeting new people.
Kt213: How do I feel about
traveling all over the US to meet and greet fans?
UM: I am so ecstatic to be a
part of Hot Import Nights and look forward to meeting all of you. It has
been a dream of mine for quite some time to have the opportunity to be
able to travel all over the country and meet people from all walks of
life. Its easy for me to make friends wherever I go since Im a
military brat, so I hope to make lots of them! I love meeting new people
and hearing what others have to say and offer. So when you see me,
please come say hi!
Kt213: How'd you get into
modeling and when did it start?
UM: I have been modeling since
the age of 14. I started out modeling wedding dresses, portraiture,
beauty, and more through private clients and photographers. One of the
bridal portraits taken of me by renown photographer, Suna Lee, won 1st
place for Best Professional Photographer in Virginia by the Eastman
Kodak Company and Best Portrait in Virginia awarded by the Virginia
Professional Photographers Association. With the encouragement of family
and friends, I pursued modeling on a higher level and in turn was given
representation by two agencies. I have been in numerous fashion & hair
shows, including Fila sportswear, Rampage clothing and Bubbles hair
salon just to name a few. I have also appeared in local print ads,
magazines (such as West End Guide, Maxim magazine, DC One, a calendar
(TMS Productions in Las, Vegas, Nevada), a music video (now playing on
MTV in the Philippines by The Speaks), an independent film, Stoogettes
Gone Wild and I was a finalist in the Maxim Hometown Hotties
competition of 2004. Thats only the beginningtheres more to come! ;)
Once I started modeling, I discovered my natural ability and creativity
in makeup artistry as well and so the agencies started booking me for
both modeling and makeup jobs.
Kt213: What are some goals you
hope to achieve during my reign as Miss HIN LIVE 2005?
UM: During my reign as Miss
HIN 2005, I hope to achieve more exposure in the automotive scene and in
the modeling and entertainment industry. I hope to be in more magazines,
on TV, travel and meet tons of new people! I have done all types of
modeling but never spokes modeling, so this is all new and exciting to
me. I am dedicated to representing Hot Import Nights to the fullestso I
have no doubt that being Miss HIN will be everything that I hoped! See
you at the shows!
Kt213: What are some of your
personal goals in life?
UM: To further my
modeling, makeup and photography career. To have my own beauty and
lingerie line launched in the future. To continue writing poetry and one
day either have a book of poetry, a biography or childrens books
publishedor all of them! To continue helping others in need through
charities and charitable acts, and one day maybe start my own foundation
stemming from my own personal experiences. To continue traveling and
meet new and exciting places and people. The most important to be the
best mother, daughter, sister and wife (someday) possible and add more
unforgettable memories to the ones I already cherish. The skies the
limit, never let anyone tell you cant do anything or be whatever you
desire.
Kt213: What's your favorite
ride?
UM: My favorite car is a Ford
GT because I own a Ford Mustang!
Kt213: What's your favorite
food?
UM: Anything Korean or
anything thats spicy! Although, I just love food in general and also
love to cook.
Kt213: I hear you have a
personal quote you go by?
UM: Youre only where
you are because you want to be. I created that one myself and swear by
it!
Kt213: Well we thank you
for your time Miss HIN, good luck with everything you do!
UM: Thank you Ktown!
