With
sheer vocal talent, lyrical genius, exotic beauty, and charismatic
personality, there is no doubt that Jaley is the name of music's fresh new
face. Jaley, born Jenny Hyun, has come a long way to make her dream of
becoming a recording artist happen. From recording herself on her computer
microphone, to recent appearances on MTV, her journey has taken her to this
very place, where we present to you Jaley.
Q&A with Jaley
Ktown213: You were born and raised
in California but your current location is New York. How does it compare to
California and how do you like it in the Big Apple?
Jaley: There is no place like NYC,
there's no doubt about that. But it took me longer to get used to this city
than Los Angeles. In LA, the weather is perfect and New York's weather is
not the greatest. But NYC makes up for that with more opportunities for just
about anything you're looking for.
Ktown213: Obviously you're an
incredible talent. How old were you when you discovered your special talent
and wanted to pursue it further?
Jaley: When I was 10 and I tried
out for a solo part in a children's choir. The teacher told me that I had a
knack for singing, and it that was the first time anyone had ever
complimented me on my voice... because it was the first time I had sung in
front of anyone else but my parents.
Ktown213: What has been your
biggest accomplishment in your career so far?
Jaley: Just moving out to NYC on
my own and basically just being thrust into a whole different world almost.
It was the first time I had ventured out alone like that so it opened my
eyes and got me to grow up a little quicker.
Ktown213: What other goals have
you set, and where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
Jaley: I have so many other goals
that I want to reach other than just music but I can't let them out just
yet. And in 5 yrs... I have no idea what I'm gonna be doing. All I hope for
is just to be happy, then everything else
will fall into place.
Ktown213: You've worked with many
famous talented people in your industry, any particular ones worth
mentioning?
Jaley: I just recently hired on
Lizzy Grubman as my publicist. She's worked
with Britney Spears, Cam'ron, P. Diddy, Gloria Estefan and the list goes
on... and she was the one who was interested in working with me to get my
name out there so it's definitely an honor for someone like her to
believe in my project.
Ktown213: Any fond memories of
Ktown Los Angeles?
Jaley: I love the Korean
restaurants there, and I've been to the 2 malls in the area many times. It's
very comfortable for me to be in this city, even though I didn't grow up
here, I feel like I did.
Ktown213: With your busy
schedule, your career, being focused, handling the pressure, how's your
dating life? Are you single?
Jaley: I never had much of a
dating life actually... I usually stick to the people I trust and love.
Ktown213: What advice do you have
for young KAs pursuing the music industry?
Jaley: Just to know that being a
minority doesn't mean they can't pursue big things. When it comes down to
it, your heritage isn't going to stop you from achieving whatever you want
to if you're determined enough.
Ktown213: We thank you for your
time, and we wish you the best of luck!
Jaley: Thanks!
