Hilarious Japanese Harry Potter Fan on Set

I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that I'm a pretty big fan of the Harry Potter books and movies, especially at my age lol. But man, this little Japanese fan takes the cake! The following clips of her meeting Daniel, Rupert, & Emma are freakin' hilarious!!! These are clips from a Japanese show...apparently she beat out 10,000 other contestants to win a a visit to the movie set of Harry Potter - Deathly Hallows (the next Harry Potter installment). Watch and just LOL...half of it has subtitles...anyways, it's hilarious.

Lakers Fan - Do you think the NBA Cheated on Behalf of the Lakers in 2002?

Since most of us are in Lakers playoff mode these days, let's talk about this.

You all know about NBA referee Tim Donaghy's allegation that Game 6 of the 2002 Western Conference Finals between the LA Lakers vs the Sacramento QUEENS was rigged.

He claims that NBA commissioner David Stern himself, told two of the three referees (Dick Bavetta and Bob Delaney) that "It would be in NBA interest to add another game to the series."

First watch the allegation video

Then watch these conspiracy videos that I came across...it's been featured on national sports radio and by Jim Rome...the videos may be a bit biased, but interesting nevertheless:

So what do you all think????

UFC 96 & Le Cercle this Thu

Gyeah my boy Quinton "Rampage" Jackson came through this past Saturday with a win over "The Dean of Mean" Keith Jardine. I'm such a fan boy, hahaha.

What was more eventful was the trash talking that occured right after the fight between Rampage and current light heavyweight champ "Sugar" Rashad Evans. I don't need to explain any further, the jawing below (video #1), then Rashad's thoughts on their upcoming fight (video #2), then Rampage's thoughts on what occured (video #3).

Video #1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdTBWodX_vc

Video #2 - Rashad's thoughts
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opj_S2XFv2Q

Did Rashad just say I'm gonna dig in that ass? What the fuck does that mean? Like he's gonna dig Quinton's asshole with his index finger??? He can't even trash-talk right. What a fag.

Video #3 - Rampage's thoughts on the trash-talk
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Srt3qsmIioo

LOL....Rampage is so fuckin funny. How can you not love this guy? But as much as I like Rampage, I can't fuckin stand Rashad Evans. He is the most un-charismatic MMA champ in the history of mixed martial arts! He's such an ass...he fronts like he's all professional with his suit and shit but all he can say during the trash-talk was fuck this and motherfucker that. What a poser. I hate the way he fights too, all he does is back-paddle and look to counter punch. Boooooring. I also hate the way he showboats in the ring disrespecting his opponents.

My prediction? Rampage victorious by KO in the 2nd Rd.

OK back to the local stuff...come party with Ktown213, Entitled, and Spotlight this Thursday at Le Cercle. Korea's ever-popular Gambler's Crew will be their along with our local talent, Tier2. Don't miss it!

John's Kt213 Movie Reviews

So I've been catching up on lot of movies lately...some by torrents (yeah im a pirate), some by Netflix, some at AMC. So today I'm going to be a self-proclaimed movie critic and grade all the flicks I've seen in the past few months. Don't try to figure out what my criteria is for what makes an awesome movie, 'cause there's no logic in that ahahaha.

So here it is...in no particluar order...

Seven Pounds

So my coworker comes to me and says "You know you're in Seven Pounds?" I was like STFU...and he says "No I'm being serious...you're wearing that red striped polo shirt." You see, last July the film crew did shoot downstairs of where I work, first floor of the Macy's building in downtown. There's this scene where Woody Harrison plays the piano in the lobby, and Will Smith watches on from an outside window of Victoria Secrets.

So I quickly download the movie and fast forward to the scene, and son-of-a-bitch wha-da-ya know...I AM in the fuckin' movie LOL....it's a crowd scene, where I have my arms folded watching Woody play the piano, and I turn around...then the camera cuts out. Man I don't remember hearing "Action!" or "Cut!" or anything...I didn't think they were just continuously rolling the film like that, you know what mean? But I can't complain...I mean my measly 4 seconds of big screen exposure is still kinda cool. Hey am I entitled to any royalties for this shit?

Anyhoo, going back to the movie, actually I've yet to watch it from beginning to end LOL. Sorry it's one of those movies where I have to be in the mood to watch. But from what I hear, it's one sad fuckin movie, a real tear jerker. But besides all that, heck I'm in it for 4 seconds so I give it an A+.

I uploaded this particular clip of me on youtube so check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wGJ23fZ2DY

Beverly Hills Chihuahua

Hey STFU...if it's free to download, so why not right? Besides the trailers made me chuckle here and there, so I decided to give it a chance.

Remember that taco bell commercial with that lil' chihuahua, where the only fuckin' thing he said was "Yo quiero taco bell?" Remember how amused you were the first time you watched that commercial, then it got really old and obsolete? That's how this film is, at first you're like "Haha look at that dog talking like a Mexican wetback," but after a while it's like watching 50 different takes of those taco bell commercials, only nonstop.

It made me wanna puke out a fuckin' 7-layer burrito. Fuckin' shit. I give it a D.

Death Race

Jason Statham is one cool motherfucker ain't he? If God told me I can be reborn as any balding actor, I'd be him. Yeah he's not very versatile, and yeah every character he plays seems to be the same fuckin person...you know that guy? The I'm-a-English-bad-ass-and-I-can-kill-you-and-dodge-bullets-and-drive-cars-really-fast guy. But hey I love his movies for what it is. Dodging bullets, kicking ass when he's outnumbered 50 to 1, and driving really REALLY fuckin well.

This movie reminded me of my childhood days when I used to smash two micro-machines into each other making explosion sounds...like kaboom...and shit. Then my transformers would come and annihilate all them sum-bitches. Then the GI Joe's would come out and try to dominate the ransformers....but I digress. C'mon bitches, you know you can relate. I give this movie a B.

Eagle Eye

First off, from what I hear Shia LaBeouf is a lil' bitch. This is coming from a very good source...my friend who owns a yogurt shop in Burbank, where Shia comes in all the time. Everyone that comes up to him for photo ops or autographs, he turns them down with a hand to their face. What a bitch.

And holy shit, what a coincidence...in this movie he acts like a lil' bitch too. He just bitches and spazzes out, running for his life. Doesn't he do that in ALL his fuckin movies? Spaz and run? Well it's no different in this film...he just bitches throughout the whole fuckin movie, running away from the mother of all computers, which happens to have every audio/visual equipment in the whole fuckin United States "eagle-eyed" on him. What the fuck? I give this movie a C-.

Gran Torino

This movie is pretty fuckin intense. Clint Eastwood plays a hard-nosed grandpa who don't give a fuck after his wife dies. I think he's like 80 or something but he's still pretty fuckin' gangsta in the movie...like Snoop Dogg in his LBC days...only he's white, and old, and all wrinkly...

In the beginning he hates us chinks/gooks/nips (to him we're all the same) but soon takes a liking to a Hmong teenage boy. He cultivates him to a man and later on Mr. Eastwood fights the boy's fight, going Dirty Harry on all the Hmong gangstas. For those of you that don't know what Hmong is, here you go stupid - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hmong_people

Anyways, I give this movie a B+.

My Sassy Girl (American Remake)

The Korean version is an A+ of course. This American version absolutely fucking sucks donkey balls covered in elephant cum. Why didn't they just bring original movie over and put subtitles on that motherfucker? Are you fuckin kidding me? No wonder this movie went straight to DVD. You just can't transpose behavioral comedy, a Korean one at that to an American film. It just doesn't work.

In this crappy version every scene is rushed, and there's like zero chemistry between Jordan (girl) & Charlie (guy). You know in the OG version if Jun-Ji-Hyun had asked her guy to lick the asshole of a giraffe, he would've made that ddong face (shit face) but still would've soldiered-up, know what I mean? In this one I think Charlie would've told Jordan to go suck a fat jaj.

I give this movie a big what the Fuck - F

RocknRolla

If you're a big Guy Ritchie fan (as I am) then you're automatically a fan of his past films like "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" and "Snatch". And if you liked those films you'll definitely like RocknRolla. This film is fast-paced with witty dialogue, filled with gut-wrenching action, with a dash of comedic twist.

By the way, did you know I dig the English accent? I think it sounds pretty fuckin money...well not as money as a fobby Korean accent, but nevertheless still pretty fuckin cool.

And I love how all the English guys end their sentences with a question. Like - "Well he just got his head blown off, hasn't he?" "Well you're real fuckin special aren't ya?" "Well this is one fucked up situation, innit?" Hahaha...I love it when they go innit? innit? innit?

So my reviews are pretty fuckin cool innit? Anyways, I give this movie a solid B.

Welp, that's it for now...but I have a lot more to review, like Mall Cop, Slumdog Millionaire, Street Kings, the Wrestler, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Valkyrie, Benjamin Button, Transporter 3, W, Zack and Mari, and on and on and on....

Grease-Gate Continues: BJ Penn vs Ken Flo Next

So it looks like BJ Penn will face Ken Flo (Kenny Florian) next. But BJ doesn't appear to be too happy about Kenny deciding to train with GSP for the upcoming fight. Penn is saying that Kenny is a turncoat, that it was actually Kenny that tipped off BJ's camp about GSP's plan to grease himself, and more seriously that GSP takes roids...and now he's gonna train with him?

Penn and Kenny have gone back and forth with some words, BJ through his website and Kenny with his TV time on ESPN.

Some Quotes:

BJ PENN
"Oh, that's funny, he's going to tristar? He's the who who tipped us off that GSP was going to be greasing, he actually emailed me and tipped me off."

"Kenny if you're going to call me a liar on stuff I'm going to call you out. You're right it was not an email, you texted someone in the camp and told them that GSP is a big roider and big greaser to watch out for him. Kenny, I'm just calling a spade a spade."

KENNY FLORIAN
“I’ve never emailed a fighter about anything like that. I don’t even have B.J. Penn’s email, I’d love to see that email. I would say print that email and show it to everybody. Where’s this mystery email?”

“I haven’t spoken to B.J. besides 'hello' since January of 2007. I’ve never trained with St. Pierre in the past. I have no motive in saying that. Even if I knew, would I say that? I know of other fighters who have greased and I don’t say anything to anybody.”

“I was a little worried about a St. Pierre-Penn rematch coming first. From what I heard, it did really well with the pay-per-view and a lot of people turned up for it. The UFC certainly could have made a lot of money doing the third one, but I think the overwhelming response was...I didn’t realize how big of a fight it would be between me and B.J. until I saw the polls and people talking on the Interweb. People want to see me fight B.J. and it feels good to know that.”

When asked about his motivation behind going to tri-star (GSP's camp).

“He’s trained everyone to fight against me. He trained both Sam Stout and Roger Huerta to fight me...and obviously, he got a first-hand account of fighting B.J., twice. He’s gone seven rounds with B.J., so that’s some good information to get. Hopefully Georges will forget about the email I sent B.J. Penn and share it with me.”

So is GSP the A-Rod of MMA? Is BJ just looking for excuses? Is Kenny a turncoat?

Oh the MMA drama...I love it. Either way, Kenny is a legitimate #1 light-weight contender, and I think it'll be an exciting fight. I look for BJ to kick Kenny's ass though...

The Real Reason Behind BJ Penn's Loss

The real reason? BJ Penn got kissed by a tranny during his ring entrance. How's that for good luck???

No but in all seriousness, the greasegate scandal has already begun.

B.J. Penn's camp has filed a formal complaint with the Nevada State Athletic Commission over Vaseline that was allegedly rubbed on Georges St. Pierre's back between rounds one and two. UFC president Dana White said at the post-fight press conference that he was aware of the complaint, and said he personally witnessed members of the commission take the Vaseline away from GSP's camp and rebuke them in the Octagon between rounds.

"I saw the commission jump up there and flipping out," said Dana White. They said one of the guys was rubbing Vaseline on Georges' back in between rounds. It was one and two, I think."

"The guys from the athletic commission went up there and started screaming at them. Knocked the Vaseline and kicked the Vaseline out of the Octagon."

White added that "some Vaseline on a guy's back didn't change the outcome of that fight, but you don't do it," and said the blame should fall on the cornerman responsible and not GSP.

"If a guy was intentionally putting Vaseline on a guy's back, he should never corner a mixed martial arts fight again."

So to re-illiterate, yeah the vaseline on GSP's back wasn't enough to change the outcome of the fight, because I believe GSP would have dominated either way. But it's still cheating and it taints his victory a tad bit...just a tad...only my opinion.

Lastly, those of you that watched UFC 94 probably didn't know that Akihiro Gono was fighting since it was never aired. Well he got his ass beat by John Fitch, but Gono's ring-entrance was certainly legendary. LOL...

By the way, Lyoto Machida's victory over Thiago Silva probably puts him in contention for a title shot against Rashad Evans. They're both great fighters but how boring is that gonna be? They're both counter-strikers always retreating backwards. So who's gonna engage who? It's gonna be retarded. Ultimately I see Rashad going for take downs...

Lakers' New Tune?

Sup everyone. So hear me out...I have couple of new ideas for Laker home games.

For one, every Laker fan knows that when the Lakers are kicking ass in the 4th quarter, the arena will always play the song "We Love LA" right?? Whether it be a huge 4th quarter comeback, or an emphatic dunk followed by the opponent's time out, or just pure 4th quarter domination, they always play that song. And who doesn't like that song? It's tradition. It's spirit. It's purple and gold since the beginning of time, you know?

Weeeell, I think it's time for a change, because I just came across a new "LA" song with more umph, with more attitude...it's edgier, harder, and stronger. It's that one song they play for the LA Kings (hockey team) commercial, called THIS IS LA. It's almost anthem-like and I simply loooooove it.

Am I crazy?? Do you agree with me? Listen below and tell me what you think!

Second, don't you miss the days of Chick Hearn putting games away in the refrigerator? He'd do it in the 4th quarter, and sometimes, just sometimes when he's really feeling good, he'll put it away in the 3rd...hahaha.

Don't you think it would be a great idea to play black old audio segments of Chicky putting games away, LIVE at Staples when the Lakers are almost certain to win? Like play it loud over the PA system, you know?

"This game is in the refrigerator! The door is closed, the lights are out, ... the butter's gettin hard, and the Jello's jigglin!

What do you think? I think I should start a petition for these ideas man....

Anyone with me???

Denis Kang Finally Signs with UFC

One of my favorite fighter Denis Kang (kt213 interview) has finally signed with UFC to showcase his talents to the American audience. He signed a four fight deal and I can't wait for him to blow up in the US market.

He's a middle weight and he's already talking about a potential match-up with Anderson "Spider" Silva, arguably the best fighter in the world pound for pound.

Denis' dad is Korean, and his mom is french (way to go dad you stud!). In Montreal he trains regularly with GSP for strength and conditioning (see video below).

Little politics here....UFC has always insisted that their fighters sign an exclusive deal with the organization, meaning they can't moonlight their way between different mma organizations. This is one of the biggest problems with getting Fedor to fight in the UFC, because even though the other parties involved are OK with Fedor fighting in different organizations, UFC wants him for themselves, and themselves only.

With Denis' situation, he was under contract with Spirit MC, a South Korean MMA organization. But Spirit MC is so supportive of their fighters and want them to gain more exposure, so they're letting UFC have full exclusive rights to Denis Kang.

Anyways, oooohhhhh the excitement~!! I can't wait to watch him perform in the Octagon.

Halloween Costume 2008

Ahhh yes...it's that time again...what to be, what to be? In 2005 I was the Hulkster. In 2007 I was "Dick-in-the-box", a character made famous by Justin Timberlake on SNL.
But this year, I have no clue what I'm gonna be....ahhhh the pressure, and Halloween is only a few days away!!!!

One thing for sure though, I think the best costumes are ones you assemble yourself, or at least where you purchase different parts and make it your own, know what I mean?

I did google around and came across some funny/stupid/amusing ones...

Black Shanghai Gangster - I LOL'ed on this one cuz of the title...I didn't know this is what "Black Shanghai Gangsters" look like...

Snake Charmer - nothing subtle about this one is there?

Optimus Prime (Transformers) - um........no. Please don't.

Bodybag - This one's kinda eerie...but how the fuck am I suppose to get my drinks with this thing?

Sigh....what to do what to do.......any suggestions????

Lakers Sign 6-9 Point Guard from China: Sun Yue

DUDE!

You know how Phil Jackson loves tall point guards...

Sun Yue is a 6-9 point guard, that's Magic Johnson height!

  • He played here in the states before in 2005 for some amateur team so making that lifestyle transition won't be a problem.
  • He doesn't expect to get 30 minutes of playing time, he know's he just a rookie.
  • He says his white coach gave him the nickname Q-Tip in 2005 because...well, he's shaped like one.
  • He says the biggest adjustment he has to make in the NBA is to get stronger. He says he's way too skinny right now.
I remember PK used to joke about how we need some more average 6-9 Asian basketball players in the NBA, instead Lord of the Rings Tree-Monster-esque players like Yao Ming & Ha Seung-Jin.

Anyways, we'll see what he can do on the court!

Here's the full press conference link: http://www.nba.com/lakers/news/80924sunyue_pressconference.html

World of Korean MMA

Anyone watching UFC 88 (chuck liddell vs rashad evans) this sat night? you know i neeeeever miss UFC ppv's but i dunno...this main event just doesn't have that "main event" feel to it, don't you agree???

I'm actually looking forward to an undercard match-up between DHK (Dong Hyun "Stun Gun" Kim) vs matt "the immortal" brown...you might remember matt brown from the last season's ultimate fighter (spike tv)...he's one tough s.o.b. but he's anything but immortal in my opinion...he's totally beatable (9-6).

Dong Hyun Kim (DHK)

On the flip-side DHK (11-0-1) was really impressive in his UFC debut a few months back throwing like 200+ elbows and dominating from the mount position. For a welterweight (170 lbs) he's pretty damn tall (6'3"), has good endurance, and has a solid judo background....sooooo, without being biased, i look forward to DHK handling matt brown pretty easily. Here's a great article on Dong Hyun Kim on sherdog and how popular he has become in Korea since his UFC debut. And if you wanna see how well he did in his debut and relive his 200+ elbows to Jason Tan's noggin, WATCH HERE

By the way, his nickname "stun gun" sounds cool and everything but why a stun gun? why not a machine gun or a bazooka or something...something with a lil' more....umph! know what i mean? stun gun kinda sounds like he's good enough to stun you for a second, but you have a fighting chance? no??? ok ok, i digress...

In other korean-related mma news, denis kang (korean-canadian) finally shook off his two-fight losing streak defending his spirit MC championship belt in korea.

Here's the fight where he pummels his opponent:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVgk-2iLy4E

do you remember when i interviewed him on ktown213??

Anyways going back to his latest victory, although it was an opponent he faced twice and beat easily, a fight is a fight and he dominated his opponent Jae Young Kim once again...via TKO. I'm really a big fan of denis...I was actually surprised that he returned my email willing to do the interview when i know he has a crazy workout schedule. I like him 'cause he's a great all-around fighter...he's good on the ground, good at stand-up, good ju-jit-su skills, he's the total package at middle weight (185 lbs). He's also a proud canadian and he trains with the great GSP (George St. Pierre) sometimes. He's also very proud of his korean heritage and because of it, his popularity is huge in korea.

Anyhoo, going back to one of the losses he suffered from his two-fight losing streak months ago, he actually lost to a fighter named yoshihiro akiyama, aka Chu Seong-hun (추성훈)...yeah you guessed it...Yoshihiro Akiyama's nationality/citizenship is Japanese but his ethnicity is 100 % Korean...his parents are 3rd generation korean-japanese, where their parents immigrated to Japan during the occupation of korea. sorry to side track to history!!! im NOT hating on japan by any means!!...like i said i love japaaaan and alllll of its pop culture stuff!!!

here's the fight between denis kang & yoshihiro akiyama:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZbxWmX_iuE

wow, denis ate a devastating hook there... like denis kang yoshihiro akiyama also displays his korean heritage proudly, wearing a patch of the korean flag on his gi when he enters the ring.

if you wanna read more about his korean-japanese situation, you can read this blog article here.

so yeup, there you have it....world of korean mma in a nutshell....im such a fan! stay tuned!

We're Baaaaaaaaack~

We're baaaaaaaaaaack~~~!!

2008-2009 Fall/Winter Softball - Official League Schedule

After a disappointing finish last season and missing the playoffs for the first time in 4 years, Ktown213 is looking for redemption. This season we picked up new kid from the minors, AKA MrCLoWnY. So this rookie better shape up and show us what he's got! Otherwise we'll embarass him on this blog week-in and week-out hahaha.

That makes the roster 12..the original 11 + 1.

+

This season's league includes some familiar teams, but a couple of teams Ktown213 has never faced before:

Ktown213 (yours truly)
Axewounds - we ownz them
Nice Cobras - they wont be nice when we get done with them ahem!!
Wilshire Pride - What part of Wilshire? Ktown-Wilshire? This town ain't big enough for two ktown teams!!! lol
Little Bar Lounge Rats - i hate rats...they freak me out.

I'm also gonna make a new CD with new entrance songs for all our players...of course i'll include the ultimate rally song - eye of the tiger in case we need it hehe. Last year I made Edwin's entrance song Oops I did it again by Britney Spears hahahahaah.

Should be an interesting season folks!

Season starts 9/4/08 so mark your calendars and get your season tickets available at ticketmaster.com! LOL

S. Korea in the Olympics - Baseball & Swimming

I'm feeling a bit patriotic today...so let's break down some of the great Korean teams/atheletes in the 2008 Olympics, reppin' the good old red, white, and blue.....aaaaand black ( you know, cuz of them lines in the corner???) ahahaha.

S. Korean Baseball Team - Are you kidding me??? Still undefeated? A team that didn't even qualify for Athens in 2004? Korea beat Japan last night coming back in the later innings, winning the game 6 -2.

You know that what that means? Guaranteed medal baby, gold or silver! Recipe for success in that game? Good clutch hitting, good base running, aaaaaaaaaand slugger Seung-Yuop Lee (이승엽) baby! He's known as the "Lion King" by his fans...he's Asia's most feared hitters...he holds the record for most homer runs (56) in a single season in Korea. Did you know in 2006 at the inaugural World Baseball Classic (WBC) he led the tournament with 5 homers and driving 10 runs?

Anyways, after the game he apologized to Japan, "I just want to say I'm sorry to the fans and players of Japan, but it is an important game and we're all the same Asians." Wow what great display of sportmanship right??? Weeeeeeeeeell, there's a twist...he currently plays for Japan, earing about $2 milion a year, LOL I guess he can definitely expect something less than a hero's welcome when he goes back. He's quite a talent though...I hear the Dodgers and the Yankees are after him...but he says he's pretty content with where he's at now, so we'll see.....

Park Tae-Hwan (박태환)- The story with this kid is that he was suffered from asthma as a child, and started swimming at the age of five because his doctor believed it could improve his condition. Is that inspirational or what folks!!!???

He also won gold* in Athens 2004 when Park was only 15 years old, winning the 400m race.

Watch the youtube video below when he won again in Australia - 400m. Siiiick....just siiiiick.

*Anyways, regarding the gold he won in Athens back in 2004....guess what? Afterwards he got DISQUALIFIED for a false start in one of the prelims, and his medal was stripped away from him. Being only 15 he cried and cried and cried...it was so sad. =(

But 2008 Beijing, he's baaaaaaaaaaaaaack winning the gold in the 400m, and coming 2nd behind Michael Phelps in the 200m. Check out his gold medal performance in the 400m race! Can you believe he's only 18???

GO Park Tae-Hwan!!

Deadly Fire in Koreatown

Deadly Fire in Koreatown

The folks from Foreign Family were blogging about how Western Ave was totally closed off this past Saturday afternoon (their blog post)...

Welp, apparently there was a deadly fire that took lives of one firefighter and two other victims...that does explain it though....you just dont see Western empty....ever! I haaaaate driving on that street...almost as bad as Vermont...u feel me??

(video) - http://cbs2.com/video/?id=74607@kcbs.dayport.com (lovely Sharon Tay)

source: http://lafd.blogspot.com/2008/08/two-dead-firefighter-injured-in-la.html

On Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 2:38 AM, 14 Companies of Los Angeles Firefighters, 7 LAFD Rescue Ambulances, 5 Arson Units, 2 Urban Search and Rescue Units, 1 Rehab Unit, 1 Hazardous Materials Team, 3 EMS Battalion Captains, 5 Battalion Chief Officer Command Teams and 1 Division Chief Officer Command Team, a total of 118 Los Angeles Fire Department personnel under the direction of Assistant Chief Richard Warford, responded to a Greater Alarm Civilian Fatality Structure Fire at 422 South Western Avenue in the Koreatown/Wilshire Center area of Los Angeles.

Firefighters arrived quickly to discover heavy fire in the first and second floors of a two story commercial structure, with flames spreading to the attic.

Forcing entry into the multiple businesses of the well secured building, firefighters commenced a fierce and well-coordinated attack on the blaze, while their colleagues commenced a systematic search of the non-residential premises.

As the flames were extinguished in a first-floor skin care business that had been fully involved with fire, firefighters discovered the charred remains of two persons.

During the ongoing firefight, one Los Angeles Firefighter sustained 1st and 2nd degree burns to his hands. In fair condition, he was transported to the Emergency Room at Sherman Oaks Hospital, where he was treated and released.

The fire was extinguished in just 38 minutes, and skilfully confined to just two businesses on the first floor, one-and-a-half firms on the second floor, and a portion of the attic.

No other injuries were reported.

Monetary loss from the fire is still being tabulated.

A positive identification of the deceased - to include their age and gender, as well as the exact cause, time and manner of their deaths will be determined by the Coroner's Office.

The cause of this early morning blaze remains under active investigation by Police and Fire Department officials.

Randy Pausch Dies

Who's Randy Pausch? A while back I sent out an inspirational youtube clip of him on Oprah...

Randy Pausch is a professor, a husband, a father, a good family man who only had X amount of time to live...he lived the remaining days of his life inspiring thousands of people with his speech - The Last Lecture.

RIP Randy Pausch...

I don't need to explain further, just view the following video clip:

This is Randy Pausch's home page where he documented his health status and wrote journals of his daily life: http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~pausch/ But after his death the site's obviously getting bombarded and down at the moment...what we call the "slash dot" effect...please check later.

MMA Recap

WAZ UP DUDES AND DUDETTES!!!! First some news on my favorite mma fighter Rampage Jackson. I'm sure you know about his episode in Costa Mesa, where he drove through cars and pedistrians on his self-logo'ed truck and led the police to a nice little car chase in the sun. Keep in mind he was drug free, but mentally he's got something going on man....

After he got bailed out he was immediately detained again and hospitalized for mental healthy evaluation. Did you know that he had not slept for 4 days straight and ate nothing, just drank water and energy drinks? Consequently, he went coo coo for coco puffs. I was very sad when he was robbed of his title, and now i'm depressed that he'll be out of commission for a long time...sigh.

In other mma news, anyone see Affliction, the "other" mma league other than UFC? They had a big draw with someone who I consider the best fighter in the world, Fedor Emelianenko and Tim Sylvia, a former UFC heavyweight champ. Needless to say, Fedor beat him in like 35 seconds.

Wow........................

Can we please see fedor vs randy couture please? Before couture dies of old age??? In my EXPERT mma opinion, I THINK FEDOR WILL ROCK COUTURE, standing up, on the ground, ju-jit-su, dirty boxing, whatever. But as some of you know Randy is still in the middle of a contract dispute with UFC, and I'm not sure if this will ever happen.

Now you have couple of billionairs getting into mma, with Donald Trump's organization running Affliction, and Mark Cuban running HDNet Fights....it's gonna get interesting to say the least. Hey, more competition the better if you ask me. Just look at the old WWF days (WWE now), they were at best when other leagues like WCW or NWA or were giving them a run for their money. Any kind of monopoly in combat sport is no goooooood.

AS for my personal weekend recap, I flew over to Vegas (bachelor party) on Friday at 6pm and flew back the next morning at 7AM. I went to vegas with zero luggage, nothing but the clothes on my back and my wallet. Didn't sleep, stayed up all night 'til my flight home. It was so sweet traveling light. No lines. I had watched the movie 21 (Bringing Down the House) a day earlier, so I was amp'ed about playing some black jack and counting cards LOL. movie reference: I kept looking for someone to fold them arms behind the chair so I can come in bet big - Winner winner chicken dinner! Needless to say, the dealer was pulling 21's out of his ass and I lost, and lost big. Played Pai Gow Poker, lost. Played poker, lost. I hate vegas.

I watched Batman on Sunday, OMG no joke. Best film of the summer. I was on the edge of my seat for the entire two and a half hours. You know how everyone's been ranting and raving about how great Heath Ledger is with the joker role? He really is. Amazing film. Go watch it kids, ok? ok.

My Sister's Dog Pinky

SO yeah no softball update this week...i did take my camera there but the battery died suddenly. I will just tell you that we got our ass kicked again by Privileged & Confidential (yup - that was our opponent's name).

So instead I bring you PINKY, my sister's dog. I don't know how my sister does it but she taught pinky like 20 dog tricks man...she just sent this video to me via text...she taught pinky how to "BE A LADY" this time...lol.

video

The one thing cool about pinky is that she knows variations of commands...for example, it's not just sitting down...she can differentiate between sit, sit pretty, sit like a lady....or differentiate between shake, high five, the other hand....etc.

Now if i can only teach her how to cook me up a nice ribeye steak....

P90X & Korean Food

SO yeah some of you that know me are aware that i've been on this tony horton p90x bandwagon for 9 weeks now...going on 10th. For those of you that don't know p90x is a 90 day program that's suppose to transform your fatass into what they refer to as...the perfect beach body. i guess it's kinda working so far...although i only see slight improvements here and there, others have commented:

"i've never seen you this fit before, even when you used to go to the gym." - mrclowny

"wow you look all chizzled and shiet." - seoul sister

"daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaang you look pretty cut now!" - penn

"when joo get so buff?" - kulio

"you lost soooo much weight." - beckster

"your stomach got flatter." - LL

"wow i love your body can i please please have sex with you????" - club girls

ok just kidding about the club girls comment but yeah, im getting good feedback and so far, so......i'm a fan of p90x, and a fan of tony horton. The dude's kinda funny...but it's the kind of funny where you're laughing at him, not with him??

I laugh each time i hear him go "Hint of the day! DON'T SMASH YOUR FACE!" during the lying-down-triceps exercise LOL.

but i give the man props. he just turned 50 last week! i wish i have his beach bodddday when i turn 50, sheesh.

ANYWAYS, that's not why i wanted to write about p90x...i signed up for their newsletter and i received an interesting article on korean food, titled Why Korean Women Don't Get Fat. Well that's a bold statement ain't it? Basically the article talks about how our diet consists of seafood, kimchee, and rice, despite the popularity of korean bbq.

full article: http://www.beachbody.com/product/307.do?code=NEWS_307_WOMEN#article

well, i think xanga's ktownfug would have something to say about that, don't you???

4th of July Weekend

Hope everyone had a ssssex-tacular 4th of july weekend! i can't believe it's over so fast...when's the next 3 day weekend already???

thursday - drank with the fellas at dit gol mok (back alley) in ktown...where i *just* learned that dak-ddong-jim or -jip or whatever is not really chicken asshole (yes im an idiot). it's really gizzard, that shit pocket in their throats that catches dirt and rocks and all that crap...it's still gross. it feels like im chewing on rubberbands or something....i just stuck to my soon-dae and jeh-il-bok-geum and soju and beer.

friday - hosted a lil' beeebeeeequeue at my place...first time i used the grill at courtyard....top sirloin and rib eye and links...and corn...lots of 'i can't believe it's not butter' and watermelon...sweet sweet watermelon.

afterwards we all went to burbank amc to watch hancock. i thought it was very entertaining, mr. july will smith doesn't disappoint, and charlize theron is a fox! yup, i didn't know she was even in this movie...anyhoo, shwiiiiiiiiiiing~!

saturday - phil-t hosted another beeeebeeequeue at his pad....leila's kimchi bok-geum-bap was indeed, very tasty. just as good as what they serve at viking yose!

UFC fight b/w rampage and griffin
pissed me off though...am I the only one that thinks rampage got robbed? the two judges scored 10-9 in FAVOR of griffin in the first round? are you kidding me? since when do you win rounds when you receive an uppercut the jaw and fall to your knees? sure griffin won the second round but he wasn't doing any damage on the ground! i was so pissed off man...but we played poker later that night and i won lil' over $200...i did it for rampaaaage man!!! sniff, sniff.

source: http://blog.ronin5.com/ufc-86-video-quinton-rampage-jackson-vs-forrest-griffin/

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

sunday - went to go watch 'body worlds 3' exhibit at the california science center...

they all look the same to me after a while, but still...quite interesting. they had a booth where you can get more info on donating your body...i'd consider it IF and only IF they allow me to pose how i want to pose....like this.

ahahahahahahhaahahha! i know i know, the 'how-asian-ppl-take-photos' thing is old...

afterwards i went to go eat some roastgui at seoul garden...mmmmmm so good....i love how they butter up the pan. i mean i love chadol and all but if you like korean bbq, you have to try this place man, i'm telling you!

all in all a ggggreat weekend! sorry for the lack of personal photos this time around, didn't have my camera with me....but maybe that's a good thing?

Robot Taekwon V

SO i was feeling nostalgic thinking about my childhood days back in korea...you know, when i was a big time fobber with my bowlcut running around with shorts that barely covered my balls...ALL you fobbers born in the late 70's & early 80's know what im talking about, dont front lol.

anyhoo, i used to loooooove reading manhwa, especially stories involving robot taekwon v...like below!

occasionally they would come out with taekwon V movies every few years and i'd beg my aunt to take me...yup, i used to love robot taekwon v....always daydreaming about wanting to pilot that shiet saving earth from enemy robots...hahahaha

and so i was googling for 'robot takewon v' and it turns out korea's making a cgi film set for release in 2009???? dude i almost wanted to nut....

what's the big deal? you see in korea, robot taekwon v is symbolic to the country as hodori was to the 88 olympics...they worship this fictional robot man!!! plus it can kick mazinga z's ass lol (sorry my lil' jab @ japan)....i keeeeed i looove japan!!
anyhoo with that i leave you with this....robot taekwon v theme song....it sounds like north korea's propaganda music hahahah

Weekend Update: Softball & Crab BBQ

SO we won our game last week against Pig N' Whistle (yes that drinking place in Hollywood). We beat them pretty easily...ok ok, they were two players short but still, we played flawless Deeeeee...know what i'm saying??

paul was back from vegas and back as our pitcher....he's good 'cause he can consistently hit the strike zone with his pitches...usually striking out 2 to 3 players a game....most ppl think it's cake to hit the balls in high-pitch softball games but it's just the opposite...it's actually harder to hit high-pitch balls vs fast-pitch (underhand) balls, because as a batter your timing has to be just right...otherwise you end up popping out eight out of ten times. we always get newbies coming to our team claiming they're "ringers", but we see them strikeout/popout time and time again because they're not use to the high pitch...anyways, here's paul pitching what we call a moooon ball...up reeeeaaaaally high...

this time we had TWO fans in attendance...leila and mrclowny ...maybe next week we'll have a whopping number of threeeee!

the man we call "blue"...built like a true major league ump! (hope he's not reading this hehe)

artistic shots of a week...

through the fence

vs...

this cool action shot

SUNDAY we had a crab bbq at ken-dawg's house....they bought over 100 oysters for like .35 cents a pop and like 15 dungeness crabs for like $1/lb.

wanna know how??? chinatown baby. rise up early sunday morning, and buy it wholesale. =) we calculated everything and for the amount of oysters and crabs we ate, it would've been well over $1000 if we had gone to redondo beach or something....anyhoo, here are the pics!

checking for crab genitals lol

tom our master chef about to circumsize the crabs

1st of 3 buckets

mmmmmmmmmm....butter.........i live for butter

fresh oysters...

we killed that shiet....

want more crab?

Britain's Got Talent vs America's Got Talent

ahahah anyone catch the tail-end of America's Got Talent last night? i came across two performers Kaitlyn Maher and Neil Boyd, both strikingly similar to the two amaaaaaaaazing contestants in last season's Britain's Got talent, Connie Talbot and Paul Potts.

what copycats!!!!!! can't blame them though...i mean the Britain's version of the show was bloody successful so why not ride the coattail of its success? it's just that for me it's such a blatant attempt you know? i feel like the British version was pure and genuine, whereas this one is just all fabricated and made-up...anyways, you decide which one is better...

p.s. - i already know that both shows are produced by simon cowell so it's essentially the same show

Britain's Paul Potts VS America's Neil Boyd

Britain's Connie Talbot VS America's Kaitlyn Maher

Fun-in-the-Sun-Summer-Extravaganza-Bon"d"-Fire-Experiment-2008

Title: Fun-in-the-Sun-Summer-Extravaganza-Bon"d"-Fire-Experiment-2008

By: Johnny Numba 5
AP Science
Period 2

Objective: To find out what happens when people stop being polite, and start getting real.

-Test Subjects

Hypothesis:
subjects will go hungry, fight for survival, and resort to cannibalism.

Experiment:
- Materials: alcohol, food, bonfire gear
- Procedure: release the subjects at Huntington Beach and observe

Data:
subject looks around suspiciously while getting alcohol for his fellow mates. based on the size of biceps, he may be the alpha-male...

subjects drink then start to participate in a strange ritual...what appears to be synchronized pooping.

using our super-powered camera lens we were able to get a closer look...just MAGNIFICENT!

then the feasting begins...

but when the subjects run out of food they started to fight for survival...

strangely, a few of them turn "broke-back"

Conclusion:
the original hypothesis was incorrect! no cannibalism took place...subjects learned to co-exist and appeared to have a faaaaaaaaaabulous time...mah-seh!!!

Ktown213 Softball Update & Lakers Game 4

I was gonna write a long rant about what went on yesterday with the lakers but forget it....it's just too painful...i'll just say this about the nba finals...im NOT gonna watch game 5, nor game 6 (providing it even gets to game 6). im gonna assume the series is over...but if there's a game 7, of course i'll watch.

aaaaaaaaanyways..........

ONCE again it was a tough night for the ktown213 softball team....we're on a 4 game winless streak now for the 1st time in 4 years!!! i say "winless streak" and not "losing streak" because last night we TIED....yes that's right, in city softball league there are NO EXTRA innings....

you might ask yourself "well a tie isn't that bad is it?" but yes it is...i mean think about it. there's that old phrase the thrill of victory, the agony of defeat? well what the hell am I suppose to do with a tie then? i mean seriously, i'd rather feel one extreme than be in the middle and just feel like....blah. you know what i mean????

anyhoo...here are some action shots from last night's game...and scroll all the way down for the baseball cards!!

here's edwin asking our opponent if he has any naked pictures of his wife...phil coming behind him to pants him

here's #8 edwin directing traffic

our team hitting the field....notice there are TWO #20's???? WTH...

i tried to take this artistic shot through the fence but it just came out blurry...im no ralph i guess

ooh i like this shot...im an excellent photographer

remember last time i showed a video clip of edwin making the last out? well today he redeems himself.

anyways, i made these cool baseball cards to share with you all...i guess you can call them softball cards if you wanna get technical....but i digress....i couldnt make one for alex (SS) and danny (OF) 'cause they couldn't make it to the game...hence no pictures.

yes, the second johnlee card with "f.face written on the forearm is an ERROR CARD...which means it's worth 100000 times its value!!!

Weekend Birthdays

THIS past saturday was leila's bday so we celebrated at soop sok norebang, where we get major hook ups. (thx min!) we just pay for the alcohol and room and we get endless dishes of food for FREEEEEEEEE~!!!

i dont know what the hell ralph does to his camera settings but here's a cool little shot of the room with all of us in it.

how come my camera doesn't take shots like this? anyways...

it was kinda calm and chill in the beginning but i decided to make this my birthday celebration and started pounding some beers....then i started thrash dancing to a beautiful ballad...by myself.

ralph made a comment that i had blood-transfusion with richard simmons that night.

then later i started playing some instruments that didn't exist...with my fellow band members.

that's ken dawg on the flute (lol), me on the geeeeeeetar, and tom on the sax...although it looks like tom's just drunk and trying to find his way to the bathroom so he can yack...but no really, he's playing the sax....hmmm...well....it kinda looks like he could be holding a long-ass bong too...but he's drug free, as you should be, yes???

grey goose and jack all night....yes this is how we boys party, stuffed in a norebang with no ladies in sight...we crajee.

anyways, the real birthday peeps...they're both 3 now.

happy birthday to ktown213's very own ralph, and leeeeila the eye-puncher (yeah she punched me in the eye that night)...thx guys, I had FUN!

UFC 84 Review - Ktown Version

aite...so im a pretty avid fan of MMA and i always have my picks for each UFC ppv....beer...friends...ooooh'ing and ahhhh'ing for each vicious punch or kick that connects....good times....anyhoo, i was pretty on the money with most of my picks, which is not a big feat considering most of the favorites won...but still...i also picked the rounds and the way of victory, so you know - give me props damn it!!

what most of you don't know was that there was an undercard in this event that never aired, featuring a korean fighter Dong Hyun Kim, who elbowed his way to his 1st victory in the UFC. he's actually 9 - 0 - 1, with most of his previous fights being against japanese and korean opponents...this guy's pretty lean, and he's like 6-3 in height....BUT one thing i thought he should NOT have said during his post fight interview with joe rogan, is that after ONLY his 1st victory in the UFC he compared his MMA abilities to GSP!!??? Thank GOD that portion was lost in translation, because half the crowd would've been like wtf and boo'ed him right out the octagon. man i cringed when he said that....Dong Hyun Kim's a welterweight btw...same as GSP.

Dong Hyun Kim vs Jason Tan 1 of 2

Dong Hyun Kim vs Jason Tan 2 of 2

Lastly, GRRRREEEEAAAAT victory for my 2nd favorite fighter, BJ PENN baby!!!!! Did you know he's half-korean? His mom's korean and she's been feeding him kimchee ever since he was yay little....yuuuuup! Here's a youtube clip of BJ when he visited Korea to hold the BJJ (Brazilian Ju-Jitsu) seminar...

Ktown213 Softball Team

so yeah a few of my friends have been playing in the LA city softball league for like 4 years now....we were formerly known as da dawg lb. but since ktown213 is sponsoring the team with brand spankin' new uniforms, we're now rightfully called ktown213...yay!

and i guess i'll blog about each and every game to embarass those who strike out (yes sometimes ppl strike out even in softball) and those who *SHINE*...just a few snippets of information on each game...perhaps some action shots as well.

you can check out our schedule and standing here: http://www.laparks.org/dos/sports/softball/spr_sum2008/M-481-8S.pdf

here's a photo of our 2005 team with names and positions we played....

the current 2008 team...um...a few personnel changes as you can see...ill post a recent pic of our team next time....

Yay for David Cook, Nay for Ronaldo Lapuz

dude anyone else pleasantly surprised at david cook taking reign as the new american idol? i thought archuletta had it locked after DC's dismal song choices tuesday night, not to mention archuleta's mammoth fanbase comprised of all the teeny-boppers of america. but i thought justice prevailed, which is also what simon cowell said this morning on KIIS FM.

but dude!!!! what was up with them bringing back ronaldo lapuz as a gag (video below)??? ok maybe the first time was funny but i was cringing at every note that came out of his mouth.....he seemed so nervous and seemed to forget the words to his own song!! how can you forget the chorus to your own song when all it is "I AM YOUR BROOOOOTHER~!!!! YOUR BEST FRIEND FOREEEEEVER~!!" over and over again???

And what's up with the USC marching band? That shit threw him off even more and made him even more tone-deaf. you can tell the entire crowd was entired bored and remained silent throughout. they've seen the whole william hung thing and they weren't amused...

my man PK always says that we as asian-americans are striving to take steps forward, but william hung took us 10 steps back....we'll, maybe ramiele malubay took us couple of steps forward this season, but this performance by ronaldo took us 5 steps back again...sigh.
