Lobsters Are CHEAP!!! (but not for long)

You've heard it here first!!! Right NOW is the best time to buy lobster. Because of the bad economy, Canada has a surplus of lobster. Prices are about $3/lb less than they would usually be.
“The lobster fishermen are victims of their own success,” he said, explaining that because they have managed to make lobster fisheries so sustainable, they have recently had record catches.

Until now, the excess catch was funneled to Canadian processing plants, which sold them frozen to chain restaurants. But the bad economy hit the Canadian plants hard enough to shut down operations.

That means cheaper lobsters for you and me — at least temporarily.

“It’s gotten to the point where for the fishermen, it’s not worth their while to catch lobsters, so the supply will decrease,” Mr. Corson said.

Anyone have any great lobster recipes?

What Happens in K-town, Happens in Las Vegas

My friend just opened the ultimate Korean/Asian Club in Las Vegas. Hip Hop, Pop, and Korean music by LA's own DJ K.E.V. from 10pm - 3am and Trance/House from 3am - 9am. It's called CLUB EPIC and its right off the strip near Tropicana where all the action is at.

Some guys go to Vegas and spent thousands of dollars on a table for a few hours to impress girls and then gamble their hard earned money away the rest of the night. That's nice. But for those who want to celebrate with their friends, meet new people, and party all night in an upscale spot without spending an exorbitant amount of money, this is the place to go. Its the first ever Korean club in Las Vegas history and you all know Koreans, once we make somewhere the spot, it becomes The Spot. Also, for those who don't know, there is a large local Korean population in Las Vegas and this you can meet.

Club Epic is open on Fridays and Saturdays starting Fri. Dec. 12

Asian-Americans angered over racist auto ads

A Ford dealer angered over the proposed bailout of U.S. automakers blames the nation's sour economy on Congress and criticized buyers of Japanese cars, calling the vehicles "rice ready ... not road ready" in a radio ad.

O.C. Welch, who owns a dealership near Savannah in Hardeeville, S.C., began airing the minute-long ad on a dozen stations in the area over the weekend. The ad sounds more like a talk-radio tirade than a sales pitch.

"All you people that buy all your Toyotas and send that money to Japan, you know, when you don't have a job to make your Toyota car payment, don't come crying to me," Welch says in the ad. "All those cars are rice ready. They're not road ready."

Floyd Mori, executive director of the Japanese American Citizens League, said Welch's remarks evoke anti-Asian sentiments often aimed at Japanese and Chinese immigrants to the United States from the 1930s through World War II. He also noted many Japanese automakers' cars are manufactured in America.

"It's a blatant, ignorant, racist remark from somebody who should know better," Mori said.
Toyota spokesman Xavier Dominicis said the company's cars consistently receive high marks for quality. The automaker employs 36,600 Americans, he said, and about 60 percent of Toyota vehicles sold in the United States were manufactured here.

"How do you tell a worker in Kentucky who's producing a Toyota that his job is worth less than another American autoworker's?" Dominicis said.

The car dealer, though, said Tuesday he had received more positive calls than negative ones. His dealership sold 15 new cars Saturday -- half of them to people drawn to the lot by the ad, he said.

Welch said he's mostly mad at politicians, blasting them in his ad as only being good for "slinging mud and spending our tax dollars." He said the government should offer tax incentives for consumers to buy new cars rather than spend money bailing out Ford, General Motors and Chrysler.

Weekend Recap & Upcoming KoreAM Benefit Event

Hope everyone's weekend was gggggreat!

1) Big ups to Projekt Newspeak with their Sketch Comedy Show this past Friday. They really deserve a bigger show...if you want to laugh your (_|_) off, check out their next show sometime in Feb. Special thanks to Eddie Kim & Jessica for their hospitality.

2) Anyone else surprised by the outcome of the smaller Manny Pacquiao man-handling Oscar De La Hoya? I actually missed the fight cuz I was busy screaming my lungs out at a local NRB, but caught the fight on youtube Sat morning. They might take it down soon, but yeah...you can catch almost any ppv sporting event on youtube if you look early enough.

3) Finally, this Thursday if you're not doing anything do check out the KoreAM Magazine Benefit Show. It's organized by PK, hosted by NBC Heroes' Jason Kyson Lee, showcasing comedy talents like Randall Park (MTV Wild N' Out) and Kevin Shea. And of course the talented singer/song writer Sam "Geunjin" Kang will be there performing everyone's favorite, 'Shots n Beer'.

4) Unfortunately I won't be attending the above event, due to my obligation towards the ktown213 softball team.  It's pretty much our last game of the season, and we'll be going up against the best team in the league.  They spanked us twice already and I want to change that this Thursday.  They'll need me because um...I'm the anchor in the line-up...ok ok not really but yeah...maybe a small anvil?

Peace.
