70's Old School R&B and Soul

There's just something about live horns and instruments that make 70's Soul Music so much better compared to what we have today, like Danity Kane. Add in a DJ who appreciates it's vibe and you have some kick ass remixes....but for now, here are some song in their purity.

California Soul - Marlena Shaw

Giving Up - Zulema

I Believe in Miracles - Jackson Sisters

Hawaiian Music + Asian American Culture

Hawaiian music...it has hints of Reggae, R&B, hip hop, and rock blended together with a feel that's distinctly Hawaiian and Asian American.

UFC 84 Review - Ktown Version

aite...so im a pretty avid fan of MMA and i always have my picks for each UFC ppv....beer...friends...ooooh'ing and ahhhh'ing for each vicious punch or kick that connects....good times....anyhoo, i was pretty on the money with most of my picks, which is not a big feat considering most of the favorites won...but still...i also picked the rounds and the way of victory, so you know - give me props damn it!!

what most of you don't know was that there was an undercard in this event that never aired, featuring a korean fighter Dong Hyun Kim, who elbowed his way to his 1st victory in the UFC. he's actually 9 - 0 - 1, with most of his previous fights being against japanese and korean opponents...this guy's pretty lean, and he's like 6-3 in height....BUT one thing i thought he should NOT have said during his post fight interview with joe rogan, is that after ONLY his 1st victory in the UFC he compared his MMA abilities to GSP!!??? Thank GOD that portion was lost in translation, because half the crowd would've been like wtf and boo'ed him right out the octagon. man i cringed when he said that....Dong Hyun Kim's a welterweight btw...same as GSP.

Dong Hyun Kim vs Jason Tan 1 of 2

Dong Hyun Kim vs Jason Tan 2 of 2

Lastly, GRRRREEEEAAAAT victory for my 2nd favorite fighter, BJ PENN baby!!!!! Did you know he's half-korean? His mom's korean and she's been feeding him kimchee ever since he was yay little....yuuuuup! Here's a youtube clip of BJ when he visited Korea to hold the BJJ (Brazilian Ju-Jitsu) seminar...

Josh Martinez - Canadian Rapper

Canadian Rappers are coming strong...with Josh and K-OS leading the way.

Josh Martinez is a machine. A well-oiled, straight-talking, globetrotting sex-machine. Having traveled the world more than the avian flu, Martinez has built himself a devout following, addicted to his hopeful perspective, joie-de-vive and a live show that brings the heat like a Catholic school girl in a confession booth.(facebook)

Just a Dood....one of my favorite songs on my i-pod right now.

Priscilla Ahn - June 10th at Hotel Cafe

Singer Priscilla Ahn was born and raised in a small town in Pennsylvania. She grew up singing in her school and church choirs, and later in coffee shops, bars, and music clubs around Philadelphia, New Jersey, and New York City. After deciding to move out to the West coast Priscilla began establishing herself on the Los Angeles music scene, and became a fixture at LA’s Hotel Café where a fortuitous opening performance for singer Joshua Radin led to an invitation to open his entire U.S. tour. In 2006, Priscilla recorded and released a self-titled EP which began to win her fans such as influential deejay Nic Harcourt of LA’s KCRW. Priscilla Ahn featured her own original songs including “Rain” and “Dream,” the latter of which appeared in the DreamWorks film Disturbia. In 2007, Priscilla was signed by Blue Note Records and began recording her major label debut with producer Joey Waronker, which is planned for a Spring 2008 release.

And June 10th is actually my bday...and it will be a great way to celebrate it.

Yay for David Cook, Nay for Ronaldo Lapuz

dude anyone else pleasantly surprised at david cook taking reign as the new american idol? i thought archuletta had it locked after DC's dismal song choices tuesday night, not to mention archuleta's mammoth fanbase comprised of all the teeny-boppers of america. but i thought justice prevailed, which is also what simon cowell said this morning on KIIS FM.

but dude!!!! what was up with them bringing back ronaldo lapuz as a gag (video below)??? ok maybe the first time was funny but i was cringing at every note that came out of his mouth.....he seemed so nervous and seemed to forget the words to his own song!! how can you forget the chorus to your own song when all it is "I AM YOUR BROOOOOTHER~!!!! YOUR BEST FRIEND FOREEEEEVER~!!" over and over again???

And what's up with the USC marching band? That shit threw him off even more and made him even more tone-deaf. you can tell the entire crowd was entired bored and remained silent throughout. they've seen the whole william hung thing and they weren't amused...

my man PK always says that we as asian-americans are striving to take steps forward, but william hung took us 10 steps back....we'll, maybe ramiele malubay took us couple of steps forward this season, but this performance by ronaldo took us 5 steps back again...sigh.
