My Sister's Dog Pinky
SO yeah no softball update this week...i did take my camera there but the battery died suddenly. I will just tell you that we got our ass kicked again by Privileged & Confidential (yup - that was our opponent's name).
So instead I bring you PINKY, my sister's dog. I don't know how my sister does it but she taught pinky like 20 dog tricks man...she just sent this video to me via text...she taught pinky how to "BE A LADY" this time...lol.
The one thing cool about pinky is that she knows variations of commands...for example, it's not just sitting down...she can differentiate between sit, sit pretty, sit like a lady....or differentiate between shake, high five, the other hand....etc.
Now if i can only teach her how to cook me up a nice ribeye steak....

i use treats and a lot of patience.. ^_^ she already knew shake so i held down one paw and asked her to shake with her other paw letting that arm cris-cross her other arm.. wait.. i mean.. legs.. they're not really called arms huh.. you know what i mean.. her front legs.. but yeah.. she does just about anything for treats.. n she's very impatient so a lot of times, she'll do a bunch of tricks before i even ask.. little braT!

But how do you communicate the trick? do you keep on saying the same word until it catches the pattern or do you show her what you want by posturing her.
The only tricks my dog knows how to do is sit, lay down, shake, and get your toy...but I didn't see how she learned them because my parents took her to training school.

bad as., yeah, lOts of repetition of the command, hand gestures, and sometimes i'll position her followed by a very enthusiastic "gOOd GIRL!" guess it depends on the trick.. she knows "roll over" too and I remember she was having a hard time with that one.. (cus most dogs don't like being forced upside-down) so I remember getting down on the floor and rolling over with her.. she's be lying on her side and I'd GENTLY grab her legs and roll her over while saying it.. even though it was totally involuntary on her part, after i rolled her over, i say (sometimes in an obnoxiously high voice) "good girl" and give her a treat.. then it's repetition and you help her out with the trick less and less until she does it on her own... hmmmm.. hope that made sense..
